About Blackbird Yoga

Blackbird Yoga was founded by Lauren Milford, RYT-200 and a team of instructors who are passionate about sharing the practice of yoga both on the mat and beyond the walls of the studio.

If you're looking to deepen your connection to your community, nurture your relationship with yourself, and elevate your strength and mobility - Blackbird is the yoga home you've been looking for.

We offer a variety of yoga classes, from high-intensity heated vinyasa flow to grounding yin and calming restore. Our teachers guide with presence and authenticity, helping you cultivate mindfulness and awareness every time you practice.

Why Yoga?

One hour. Just for you. No notifications, no to-do list, no pace to keep but your own. What happens in that hour — the breathing, the stretching, the sweating, the stillness — quietly shapes your body and mind in ways you'll notice long after you leave the mat.

But yoga is more than that one hour in the studio. It’s building muscle memory for pausing and breathing that you can come back to when you get cut off in traffic.

When you practice, you’re moving your body to strengthen it and become more flexible, not just because you look strong in a Warrior II. It’s because you want to get out of bed in the morning without aches and pains, carry a full load of groceries without breaking a sweat, and bend down to pick up something you dropped with ease.

Find steadiness on the mat. Carry it everywhere..

Why Blackbird?

Blackbirds have been said to have the ability to cross between the physical and spiritual worlds, and are symbols of intuition and transformation.

The word "blackbird" itself is a representation of duality - darkness and flight. That balance of opposites is an essential part of the yoga practice: we balance ease with effort, inhales with exhales, and grounding with growth.

I can't imagine a better symbol for the practice of yoga, and for our community at Blackbird. I hope that Blackbird is where you can refine your practice, nurture your relationship with yourself and connect with your community.

See you on the mat,

Lauren

Key Tenets of Blackbird Yoga

This is a space free from comparison or performance. Every body, every background, and every practice is welcome here.

Our teachers are here to guide, not to ask you to conform. You have agency in your practice – choosing to vary, modify, skip, or add. You know your body best.

Growth may look like building awareness, exploring a challenging posture, or lingering in stillness. There is no single way it should appear.

There is no final achievement, or destination. What you need may change each time you step on your mat—and that’s not only okay, it’s expected.

The breath, awareness, and self-compassion you cultivate here are meant to support you in your daily life, long after class ends.
