Why do yoga?

A lot of people think yoga is about trying to touch your toes.

It’s actually about being in touch with yourself.

The you that might be holding your breath without realizing it. The you that’s always looking back or ahead.

The you that’s not often really, truly, present.

Yoga is about moving your body through shapes
while staying connected to the breath.

These shapes can help us get stronger.

And maybe someday, reach those toes.

But flexibility is a bonus.

The real goal is to reach stillness of the mind.

To be able to come back to the present moment when the mind travels.

Again, and again.

To build strength, steadiness and ease on the mat.

So that you can carry it with you everywhere else.
